Clifford is Home…

CEI Board Chair, Ned Miller, and Director, Andy Jacob, introduce Clifford at the closing celebration of DELCO Gives last Thursday. There was also a feature story on WHYY; you can read it by clicking on the photo.

Clifford Is Home!

Because of your generosity and support during Delco Gives, we officially surpassed our fundraising goal and purchased the Chester Eastside Big Red Van!

This van not only serves as transportation, but also represents community, hope, outreach, and the incredible things we can accomplish together.

To share in the celebration, you are invited to stop by Chester Eastside this Wednesday to take pictures with the van that YOU helped to bring home. Whether you donated, shared our campaign, or volunteered, this moment belongs to all of us. Because of this van, we’ll be able to collect more food, strengthen community partnerships, and serve even more individuals and families throughout our community.

Community Barbecue

Join us for an afternoon of food, fun, and community connection! Chester Eastside’s Community BBQ & Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, June 13th from 1 – 4 PM. This free event will include BBQ food, games, kids activities, face painting, bounce houses, water ice, cotton candy, new clothing giveaways, and community resources for local families. We hope to see you there!

Springing Into Summer

For many students, Spring is the most exciting time of the year – when time in the classroom gives way to time outside.

This Thursday is the last day for the students in our After-School Program, and it will once again close with a Showcase. If you come to CEI at 4:00pm, you will witness our students presenting and performing the work they’ve been preparing all semester. There will also be awards, entertainment, and celebratory cuisine!

For our students, the slide into summer will happen in July when the Summer Camp kicks off. Following past years, there will be field trips and swimming expeditions each week. The Teaching Artists will remain with us, and throughout there will be special guests and experiences.

The quality of our Summer Camp is directly related to the results of the appeal for support we send out each spring. On May 29th, we will send out this year’s appeal, with great anticipation for its return.
