Just $1,775 to Bring Clifford Home!

More than a month ago, we began our Wheels for Meals appeal so could purchase a cargo van that will enable us to greatly increase our food donations, We found this great bright red van which quickly received the name Clifford – an homage to the other Clifford: The Big Red Dog!

As of today we have received 93% of our $25,000 goal. DELCO Gives wraps up this Thursday, May 7, so it’s not too late to take part in bringing Clifford home! You can click on the picture above if you’d like to contribute.

What Difference Will Clifford Make?

We recently established a partnership with Sharing Excess, a nonprofit organization that supplies a virtually endless amount of fresh produce. It is an expansion of our existing partnerships with Share, Philabundance, Caring for Friends, Driscoll, Panera, Giant, and, of course, the thousands of pounds of donations from individuals. The catch with Sharing Excess? – the food has to be picked up. These are pictures from a recent pick-up from Sharing Excess. As you can see, it filled a minivan provided by a volunteer. Soon, Clifford will take over the reins. We are anticipating up to a 20% increase in the amouint of food we are able to add to our stock, which we anticipate will help us meet the continued rising demand.

We are grateful for your support for our programs, especially when they help us serve more people.

Come Meet Clifford!!!

The closing ceremony for DELCO Gives will be held this Thursday from 5pm – 8pm at the Sportsplex in our own back yard! Adjacent to the Philadelphia Union stadium there will be food, drinks, games, and live music. Special prozes will be awarded and the final total for DELCO Gives will be announced at 7:30pm.

It has been recently confirmed that Clifford, CEI’s big red van, will attend the festivities! He will be there to be in your pictures, show off his sheen, and sign autographs!

Finally, there is a competition offering cash prizes to the organizations that come with the most people and the ones with the greatest/loudest spirit. If you are able to attend, please make sure you let us know so we can count you in our total.

And, if you let us know in advance, we will provide you with your very own CEI T-shirt so we can stand out together!

First Wednesday Reminder

Every first Wednesday at 1:00pm in the dining room at CEI volunteers, supporters, board, and staff are all invited to a shared meal and conversation coupled with updates about the latest CEI news.
