Garden Glory and a New Set of Wheels

Kids First students with Bug House exhibit

Introducing…

students from our After-School Program who helped create this exhibit that won 2nd prize in the Philadelphia Flower Show! Last Saturday they were able to see the product of their work in person as a part of a field trip to Philadelphia. The Show was almost as exciting as the train ride in and out of the city!

The master gardener, guru, wizard, and sage behind it all, Doug Crosby, proposed a year ago that we enter, and then led the way by coordinating many volunteers and endless details. Here he is reflecting on the journey that led to a ribbon…

It’s That Time of Year!

Each year at this time we produce a report on the previous year’s highlights, accomplishments, challenges, and successes. So, here it is – the CEI 2025 Annual Report. Click on the picture below to read…and rejoice!

Wheels for Meals!

It’s official! We are registered participants in the 3rd annual DELCO
Gives celebration of nonprofits in DELCO! Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase a cargo van that will increase our ability to pick up donations to be distributed through our programs – especially food.

You can click on this picture to see the CEI page on the DELCO Gives website where you can read more about the plans and goals.

The official kickoff for the campaign is April 1. If, however, you would like to contribute sooner, you can do so on our website (“Donate” button) or by mail.

We offer gratitude in advance for all who are able to support this effort to meet the growing needs to feed people.

Breaking Bread…Together

Shared meals provide a launching pad for building relationships, creating connections, and laying a path toward unity. At CEI we recognize this because we watch it happen all the time.

With that spirit and conviction we are proud to offer ourselves as partners with other groups pursuing the same goals.

On Monday, March 16

we welcome our partners from the Fellowship of Urban and Suburban Engagement (FUSE) as they host a meal and lead in games, recreation, conversation, and fellowship. The meal is open, and hoping to welcome, anyone who would like to take part in building community together! You can use the QR code on this flier to register.

Same Link…Different Look

  • We are thrilled to finally announce that our new website is up and running! When you go to ceichester.org you will find new and refreshed pictures, stories, and information that capture our mission. You can read the latest newsletters, watch special videos (“Impact Stories”) with people speaking to their CEI experiences, and even find events with descriptions in the new calendar. And, of course, the donation page still does it’s thing!
